Exploring The Pochuck Bypass on the Appalachian Trail

The Pochuck Bypass completes the last remaining section of road the AT traversed in New Jersey.  Until the bypass was completed AT through hikers were forced to take a three mile road detour around private property and a wetland.  Over the past several years local clubs were successful in purchasing a corridor of land traversing the wetland.  For the past two years members of the New York-New Jersey Trail conference have labored to complete an elevated boardwalk and footbridges over Pochuck and Wawayanda Creeks.
